Title The study of strategies to reduce employee turnover rate in electronic components manufacturing industry / Lim Kok Hong
Abstract High employee turnover rate in electronic components manufacturing industry was a nightmare for human resource management and impact on organization performance. The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship of employee retention strategies with employee turnover rate by reviewing the effectiveness of strategies and employee expectations, and also investigates relationship of career levels and age groups with employee turnover in a semiconductor manufacturing plants that operate in Malaysia and Singapore. Hence, independent variables are employee retention strategies, career levels and age groups; employee turnover intention is the dependent variable. After literature review, a theoretical framework formed and five hypotheses were tested to examine relationship between independent variables and dependent variable. A survey were conducted in studied organization and questionnaire distributed to employees randomly for data collection. The analysis result revealed that most of the employee retention strategies are negatively related with employee turnover intention, expectation gap between employees and employer is positive related with employee turnover intention. Analysis results also show that the career levels and age groups are less significant related with employee turnover intention. Essentially, the research findings provide a visible direction for management to make some critical improvements in employee retention strategies, understand employee needs from each career levels and age groups in order to lower down the employee turnover rate.
