Abstract
|
The paper is aimed to study on the relationship between work motivation factors on employee engagement and the mediation effect of job satisfaction on the relationship in a software development company. The study analyses three motivation factors (1) Psychological factors, (2) Physical factors and (3) Organization climate to employee engagement. A questionnaire survey has been conducted in the company and data from a sample of 128 employees were collected for analysis. Factor analysis, reliability analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were used to analyse the data. The results have revealed that work motivation factors are positively related to employee engagement and job satisfaction. However the direct relationship between work motivation factors and employee engagement is higher than the indirect relationship of job satisfaction as the mediator, therefore there is a partially mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between work motivation and employee engagement. Overall, the result shows that most of the employees agree to the twelve variables within the three groups of work motivation factors which are affecting the employee engagement level. The limitations, implications of the findings are discussed in the study. The paper also provides strategic recommendations on areas to improve based on the work motivation variable discussed.
