Abstract
|
This study has been focused to understand the contributing factors that influence consumer awareness in terms of food safety. Food safety is a crucial topic as food consumption is basic need for every human being as stated in the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs. As consumers, knowledge and awareness towards food safety plays the role to ensure the being consumed has the best quality assured and safe for consumption by all from children to senior citizens. From the study conducted inj Kland Valley, Malaysia, four independent variable have been tested against the dependent variable, consumer awareness. Based on the variable, found that consumer awareness has been positively influences by the roles and responsibilities of regulatory bodies. The remaining three variable, knowledge on hygiene and sanitation, labelling info and lack of education and exposure has shown negativity in terms of hypotheses testing but then the outcome has proven that consumers are well verse with all the three variables. In order to further enhance consumer awareness level. Influence of technology development allows accessibility for onsumers towards food safety related info. further studies can be conducted to enhence the reliability of this study.
