Abstract
|
Information Technology Risk (IT Risk) Management has become more and more
important and it has become an integral part of the Operational Risk Management (ORM)
for a financial institution as most of which the financial businesses evolve together with
the evolution of the sophistication of today information Technology. One common
example is the adoption of web technology for the financial businesses for instance
online banking, online policy submission, e-share trading and etc. All of which are with
the various types of IT risks associated with the people, information systems and
processes involved in such daily activities hence IT Risk Management is an utmost
important component for a financial institution to maintain its business continuity to all
the stakeholders.
The literature was conducted with the aim of uncovering the non-financial information
risks (IT risk) associated with the financial services organization (i.e. Company I in this
study) and the information technology risk (IT Risk) management or simply called
information risk management (IRM) that is used to identify the IT security gaps of all the
Information Systems required to deliver financial services to its customers. The study’s
conclusions are based on both the findings of the primary and secondary data and a set of
recommendations were included for the more effective information risk management
(IRM) for a financial institution
