Abstract
|
The purpose of this thesis paper is to investigate the consumer purchase behavior of Malaysians in regard to purchasing insurance. A survey was sent out via email and WhatsApp to various and random respondents and 250 of them were replied and usable. Correlation and regression analysis were implemented to analyze all the data collected. The findings indicated that that all the independent variable; (age, occupation, income, lifestyle, perception, motivation, learning and knowledge (awareness), groups and family and friends) plays a significant role and relationship with dependent variable of influencing the penetration and density rate of insurance in Malaysia. The results show that income has the strongest impact on influencing and impacting insurance penetration and density rate in Malaysia with Pearson Correlation, R= 0.895. Follow behind closely, is occupation with strong impact on influencing and impacting insurance penetration and density rate in Malaysia with Pearson Correlation, R= 0.833.
In other words, Insurance Companies in Malaysia could look into tailoring insurance and premium packages for lower income earners and as well work in partnership with agents to educate them that insurance is not necessarily expensive as what they thought of.
