Abstract
|
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the perception of employees on the five elements of HRM/TQM practices such as training and development, empowerment, reward and recognition, teamwork and leadership on employees’ job satisfaction in UMW Toyota. Hence, five hypotheses were formed to investigate this relationship.
Design/Methodology/approach - The research uses self-completed questionnaires, distributed to 200 employees from different job levels and functions within the organization. Data were analysed using correlation and regression analysis.
Findings - The results of this study revealed that teamwork and leadership have a positive relationship with employees’ job satisfaction. In contrast, reward and recognition, training and development and empowerment showed a negative relationship with employees’ job satisfaction.
Originality/Value – This study contributes in enhancing the HRM/TQM literature to a higher level of understanding of the relationship between HRM/TQM and job satisfaction among employees in the automotive industry.
